Fox News Channel is propaganda machine
Oct. 8, 2009 12:30 am
I agree with Leonard Pitts Jr. (“Why do I distrust Fox? Let me count the ways,” Oct. 4). Fox News Channel is never to be trusted, about anything.
The network was founded in 1996 by Republican political operative Roger Ailes with the goal of creating a Republican propaganda machine.
Fox News Channel succeeded beyond his wildest dreams. GOP-friendly news stories are promoted, repeated and amplified. Stories against Democrats are created or distorted. Fox News Channel knows how to play this game better than anyone.
I recommend renting or buying the movie “Outfoxed.” It uses interviews with former Fox News employees and video clips from the channel to explain clearly how Fox is manipulating what you watch. They routinely alter video clips to slant stories. Management sends employees daily bulletins on what propaganda topics - like “death panels” - are to be focused on each day.
Fox News Channel is neither fair nor balanced, and never has been. Change the channel.
