NEW HIRES
30Hop, a restaurant/bar scheduled to open at the end of July at Iowa River Landing, Coralville, has hired Ryan Funk as executive chef. Funk, an Iowa City native, gained experience in culinary skills in the San Diego area.
The Buchanan County Economic Development Commission in Independence has hired George Lake as its director effective July 8. Lake has been president of the Marion Economic Development Co.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Cedar Rapids and East Central Iowa has hired Brande Ulrich (see photo) as development director and Ashley Schmuecker (see photo) as grants specialist.
Advanced Technology Solutions Inc. has hired Jon Harper (see photo) as IT manager and Nathan Montague (see photo) as predictive maintenance analyst at the firm's home office in Fairfax.
Mid-Prairie School District, Wellman, has hired Jeff Swartzendruber (see photo) as its business manager/board secretary effective in July. Swartzendruber is vice president and regional director for Everence Trust Co., Kalona.
UnityPoint Clinic, Cedar Rapids, has hired Becky Halsch (see photo) as director of Clinic Operations-Primary Care. She formerly was hospitalist program manager at Mercy Iowa City. Also, Janna Petersen (see photo), previously a nurse with UnityPoint Health-St. Luke's Hospital, was hired as clinic administrator with UnityPoint Clinic-Cedar Rapids Pediatrics.
Rachel DeWalle (see photo) has joined UnityPoint Hospice as hospice manager. DeWalle previously was hospice inpatient program manager.
ImOn Communications, Cedar Rapids, has hired David Fyffe (see photo) as director of networks systems and construction. Fyffe previously was with Muscatine Power and Water.
HR Green has hired Jeremy Kaemmer as staff engineer in the transportation department of its Cedar Rapids office.

CERTIFICATION
Lt. Kent Steenblock (see photo), assistant Linn County Jail administrator, received national designation of Certified Jail Manager through the Jail Manager Certification Commission by authority of the American Jail Association.

UI Children's Hospital ranked No. 42 in cancer, No. 45 in cardiology and heart surgery. No. 42 in diabetes and endocrinology, No. 30 in neonatology, No. 20 in nephrology, No. 26 in neurology and neurosurgery, No 32 in orthopedics and No. 46 in pulmonology.
