What happened to common good?
The Gazette Opinion Staff
Oct. 15, 2013 1:37 pm
Is there any light at the end of the tunnel or are we on a downward spiral to an abyss?
Why did a faction in the House of Representatives wait until the eleventh hour of the passing of the Affordable Health Care Act (Obamacare) to demand a one-year delay in the law that was passed by Congress and decided favorably by the Supreme Court? What was to be gained by the shutdown? Who benefits and who suffers?
Are we to become so disillusioned that we accept this bizarre behavior on the part of our Congress as normal or is there a non-partisan movement that rejects the status quo and demands and works for government of the people, by the people and most importantly for the people?
What happened to the concept of the common good?
