Rima totals 224 yards of offense in Prairie’s 57-7 win

CEDAR RAPIDS - They celebrated homecoming with fireworks before Friday night's game at Prairie.
And then the Hawks went off on the field.
Prairie scored on all six of its first-half possessions and rolled up a 43-7 lead en route to a 57-7 drubbing of Burlington in a Class 4A District 6 football opener at John Wall Memorial Stadium.
Jalen Rima touched the ball six times on offense in the first half, scored three touchdowns and accounted for 224 yards of total offense. He scored on a 35-yard run, and pass plays of 51 and 84 yards.
The win snapped a three-game losing skid for Prairie (2-3). Burlington (1-4) lost for the ninth time in its last 10 games.
Prairie accumulated 361 yards of total offense on just 21 plays in the first half and finished with 419 total yards.
The Hawks scored on plays of 51, 51, 35, 12, 4 and 84 yards in the first half.
Rima ran the ball three times for 72 yards and caught three passes for 152 yards. He fielded punts, but did not carry the ball in the second half.
Hunter Johnson had two interceptions in the first half. He also scored on runs of 12 and 4 yards.
Trevor Northrup started the Prairie scoring with a 51-yard run on the fourth play from scrimmage. He also scored on a 9-yard run in the third quarter.
Quarterback Tyler Nunemaker was 4-for-4 for 175 yards in the first half.
Burlington was held to 126 total yards in the first half and 148 for the game.
Prairie hosts Iowa City High next Friday. Burlington hosts Muscatine.
