Patterson, Vaneta A.
Vaneta A. Patterson, 90, passed away March 1, 2012, at Mercy Iowa City after a long illness. Per her wishes, a celebration of her life will be held at a later date. Her body has been donated to the University of Iowa.
Vaneta was born to William and Myra Wilder Lubbs on Sept. 28, 1921. She was united in marriage with Lloyd Patterson in June 1944. They lived in Vinton, Atlantic and Oelwein while Lloyd was employed by the State Highway Patrol.
Vaneta is survived by four children, Jane Patterson of Iowa City, Carole (Bob) McGrath of Fresno, Calif., Lloyd (Julie) Patterson of Pensacola, Fla., and LuAnn Patterson of Des Moines; five grandchildren, Becky (Tom) Espey and Jim Hanson of Iowa City, Chris Hanson of Bedford, Ohio, Erik Patterson of Pensacola, Fla., and Grant Patterson of Lemore, Calif.; six great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one sister, Naomi Hostetler of Cedar Falls; and one brother, Kenard (Norma) Lubbs of Coon Valley, Wis.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and one brother.
The family would like to thank Dr. Craig Champion and Iowa City Hospice for their dedication to Vaneta's comfort and dignity in her long journey home.

Memorials may be directed to Iowa City Hospice.
