Cameron Paddock, 22, died Saturday, Sept. 24, 2016, from injuries suffered in an auto accident. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 30, at the Jones County Youth Development Center, Monticello. Interment will be in the Oakwood Cemetery. Pastor Doug DiBell will officiate at the services. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello. Surviving are his parents, Mike and Heather; a brother, Peyton; and his sister, Dori, all of Monticello; his fiancee, Monika Gorham of Roscoe, Ill.; his grandparents, Darwin (Joan) Paddock of Sabula and Craig (Cindy) Prentice of Terril; and great-grandparents, Ruth Prentice and Melvin and Lillian Johnson, all of Terril.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Doris Paddock; great-grandmother, Apama Paddock; and great-grandfather, Bob Prentice.
Cameron John Paddock was born Dec. 14, 1993, in Maquoketa, Iowa. He was the son of Mike and Heather Prentice Paddock. Cameron graduated from Monticello Community Schools in 2012. He attended Iowa Central Community College in Fort Dodge and then Grand View University in Des Moines, before enrolling in Iowa State University at Ames.
Cameron participated in track, football and wrestling while in high school and continued his participation in track and football at Iowa Central and track at Grand View. Cameron was part of the 2014 National Championship Track Team at Iowa Central. He placed sixth in shotput, earning All American Honors, at the national track meet at the Armory in New York.
