Watch live: Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds recounts conversation with Trump

Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds said she spoke Wednesday morning with President Donald Trump and Environmental Protection Agency Director Scott Pruitt and will reveal details of the conversations at a news conference.

The news conference with executives representing the renewable fuels industry is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in Pella. One of the organizers, Fuels America, will be livestreaming the event.

Reynolds is one of Iowa's top Republicans who have been pressing the GOP administration on two fronts — to reverse the possibility that the EPA would roll back its rules for use of renewable fuels, and to approve Iowa's 'stopgap' measure to shore up the Affordable Care Act exchange in Iowa.

Tuesday, U.S. Sen. Chuck Grassley suggested bottling up the Trump administration's nominees for EPA positions until the agency sides with farmers and the renewable fuels industry on the issue. The GOP senator later met with Pruitt to press him personally.

On the stopgap health insurance waiver, Iowa submitted its proposal in June and the waiver has yet to be approved. Earlier this month, the Washington Post reported, citing unnamed sources it said were familiar with the matter, that Trump had personally intervened with a federal official to order Iowa's request be rejected.

On Twitter, Reynolds wrote Wednesday that she thanked Trump for a 'positive & productive' call.

'I look forward to sharing details at our 1:30 p.m. press conference in Pella,' she wrote.
