Applaud Braley for change on budget

When Rep. Bruce Braley, D-Iowa, recently came out in support of a balanced-budget amendment, he was criticized in a July 12 letter, “Braley budget column nothing but lip service” by Tom Gerhold of Atkins.
Braley should be applauded for having the character to support an issue that is now right for the country. Not all ideas are good at all times. Have we come to the point that we criticize public representatives every time they change their mind? Many leaders have changed their minds on important issues as economies change.
Braley is an honorable representative for the people of northeast Iowa, with a history of helping constituents and bringing common sense solutions to the House. He deserves your vote in November.
