Yancey, Linda Sue (Donovan)
Linda Sue (Donovan) Yancey, 65, of 2740 O Ave. NW, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Saturday, July 13, 2013, at St. Luke's Hospital after complications from surgery. Services: 1:30 p.m. Thursday, July 18, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, with Father Christopher Podhajsky officiating. Family will greet friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial: St. John's Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Linda was born to Clarence and Virginia Donovan on Aug. 19, 1947, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She graduated from Jefferson High School. Linda married Richard Grady in 1966, then had a daughter, Kimberly and a son, Kevin. They later divorced. Linda then married Ronald Yancey until he passed away on July 12, 2007. She retired from Cryovac Sealed Air after working there for 40 years with many friends. Linda was friendly and had an outgoing personality. She loved playing a game of pool with her friends and tending to her yard and flowers. Linda never met a dog or cat she didn't love, especially her dog, Tink, and her cat, Callie. She was proud of her Irish Heritage and looked forward to St. Patrick's Day each year so she could wear her green clothes, beads and crowns!
Linda is survived by her daughter, Kimberly Renee; her son, Kevin Joseph; two grandsons, Christopher and Cameron; several nieces, nephews and cousins; three sisters-in-law, Beverly, Judy and Margaret; and a longtime family friend, Lynnette Grimm McDonnell.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Richard Grady and Ronald Yancey; maternal and paternal grandparents; mother and fathers-in-law, Doris and Leo Dvorak who she cherished; and many brother and sisters-in-law.
We will all miss Linda's sweet smile and her smiling Irish eyes.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
