O'Donnell, Rick
Rick O'Donnell, 60, of Cedar Rapids, formerly of St. Joseph, Mo., died Sunday, Jan. 23, 2011, at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids, following a lengthy illness. No services or gathering is planned. Per Rick's wishes, he has been cremated. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Survivors include his wife, Brenda; daughter, Tonya Summers; granddaughter, Kourtney Mills; grandson, Tad Summers; and great-grandson, Ayden Hook, all of Cedar Rapids.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Andrew Richard O'Donnell was born March 25, 1950, in Kansas City, Mo., the son of Peter and Mary Louise (Thompson) O'Donnell. On Dec. 7, 1979, he married Brenda Mills in St. Joseph, Mo. Rick worked as a salesman for Norwood Promotions for many years traveling through Iowa, Minnesota, North and South Dakota, Wisconsin, Kansas and Missouri.
Rick was an avid golfer where he was a 30 year member of the Men's Club at Fairview Golf Course in St. Joseph, Mo., loved tying trout flies and fishing especially in the Roaring river in southern Missouri. Rick was well known for his great sense of humor, jokes and contagious smile.
He will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew him.
