The Walk Through -- Everyone good to go, how far? We'll see

Good morning. Everything here is Ohio State. Even the sky is red.

OK, kidding.

It is raining and that headline is from the Supertramp song.

-- From what I know, everyone is good to go as far as injuries. How far they go? We'll see.

We'll keep an eye on it.

For what it's worth, I requested James Morris, Christian Kirksey and Dominic Alvis for Tuesday and they were no-shows. I don't know how much you can read into that. That's a 50-50 deal most Tuesdays.

-- Heard a story on the radio on the drive in about Woody Hayes and Forest Evashevski having to be separated during a coaches meeting back in the day, late '50s I'm guessing. That's so cool. Let's do this more, today's coaches. Let's just fight it out.

-- LB Anthony Hitchens is from Lorain, Ohio, which is closer to Cleveland than Columbus. He was able to finagle 15 tickets for this game. Hitchens needed a lot of tickets. He's a "Blind Side" story.

Here's what I wrote last year:

Repeat, the family is totally digging the tackle numbers.

“Ooh, I know!” Amy Anderson said. “I get tears every time I see him on a Big Ten field. It's so amazing when you see one of your children realize their dreams.”

Anthony Anderson Hitchens has a lot of family eyeing those tackles.

There's his mom and dad, Norma and Anthony Hitchens. There's also the Anderson family, who took Anthony in during a rough patch as a seventh grader.

This is Lorain, Ohio, a small community on Lake Erie, about 20 minutes from Cleveland.

“Our fun thing was in our neighborhood, everyone knew everyone and we played backyard football and stuff like that,” Hitchens said. “That's about it. We just hung out with each other.”

Hitchens was a star at Clearview High School. He rushed for 3,864 yards and 52 TDs, setting school records for points in a season and career and most career yards. He did it after finding solid footing in the Anderson household, which now includes five boys (two Anderson boys and three live-in sons).

“The Anderson family took him in [Hitchens] at a pretty young age, probably about 12 or 13,” Clearview coach Mike Collier said. “They really gave him a little better life. He's still in touch with his mom, but he lived with that family. It's kind of like the ‘Blind Side,' a feel-good story.”

I think everyone tries to play. Remember, seven starters missed time because of injury in the MSU game.

-- Speaking of injury, Northwestern is without QB Kain Colter and RB Venric Mark this week against Minnesota. Both have leg injuries, I think.

-- Iowa QBs and TEs are out. Reving this thing up.

-- A couple of Woody-Evy tidbits from Bob Brooks: That meeting where they had to be separated happened in Iowa City. And it happened. Also, Woody got mad at Evy once because he had a couple of heaters on Iowa's sideline. Woody went over and took one. One more, Woody also brought a mower to Kinnick once. Apparently, Woody didn't like Iowa's landscaping.

-- All right, had to eat some lunch. It's going to be nine hours before I get another shot at food.

-- Still raining, not as much. Not much wind.

-- Looking ahead a little bit to next week, in last season's 28-17 victory at Evanston, Colter and Mark combined for 328 rushing yards and three TDs. Just saying. Without those two, what is Northwestern?

-- Everyone who was hurt is on the field. We'll soon see what they have in the tank.

-- KF radio: No lingering effects. Everyone ready to go. Couldn't ask for more there.

-- Looks like redshirt frosh DE Faith Ekakitie is doing DT stuff out there.

-- Team drills: Everyone who is supposed to be in is in.

Second team DL-OL: MacMillan, Gaul, Simmons, Donnal, Ward; Hardy, Johnson, Cooper, Ekakitie.

-- Looks like the Gophers will take down Northwestern. The Wildcats will go into Kinnick next week 0-3 in the Legends Division. Iowa will be trying to snap a four-game losing Big Ten losing streak at Kinnick Stadium.

Something will give.

-- Radio: Might've been in trouble without the bye week. Iowa good to go.

-- It was a back/leg issue for Alvis, BTW. Good to go.

-- BTW, Iowa-NW is an 11 a.m. kick at Kinnick on BTN. We'll find out the Wisconsin time Monday morning.

-- One final note on injuries: They all really are the muscle and sprain and not the surgery variety. That obviously leaves room for variations in healing. Some guys might not be 100 percent, but have been medically cleared and will do what they can. What that is or will be, we'll see.
