Alfred N. Flaten Jr., 82, of Sun City Center, Fla., formerly of Cedar Rapids, died Jan. 27, 2017, at Life Path Hospice House, Sun City Center.
Services: noon Saturday, Feb. 4, at Sun City Center Funeral Home, 1851 Rickenbacker Dr., Sun City Center, FL 33573. Visitation: 11 a.m. to time of service at the funeral home. Burial will be later in the spring in Edinburg, N.D.
Survivors include his children, Laurie (Michael) Thies, Omaha, Neb., Leigh Ann (Michael) Worrall, Ruskin, Fla., Noelle (Philip) Jennerjohn, Green Bay, Wis., and Trisha Barner (Jim Bartlett), Omaha.; grandchildren, Matthew Thies, Omaha, and Joshua Jennerjohn, Green Bay; and brother, Paul (Susan) Flaten, Jacksonville, Fla.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Arlene (Koenig) Flaten; parents, Alfred N. Flaten Sr. and Dorothy (Nasinec) Flaten; and brother, Boyd Flaten.
Alfred was born Dec. 9, 1934, in Edinburg, N.D., and attended the University of North Dakota, where he met his wife. He worked for Nash Finch Co. for 45 years, retiring as CEO.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to his family for disbursement to his favorite charities.
