CAROL SORDEN Lone Tree Carol Jean Sorden, 93, of Washington, formerly of Lone Tree, died Wednes-day, Feb. 4, 2015, at Washington County Hospital in Washington. Funeral services have been set for 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 9, at the United Presbyterian Church in Lone Tree. Burial will follow in Lone Tree Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Beatty Funeral Home in Washington and one hour before the service Monday at the church. A memorial in the name of Carol Jean Sorden has been established for the American Diabetes Association. Carol Jean Sorden was born July 15, 1921, to Ward and Zella (Bidwell) Essley in Washington, Iowa. She married Truman J. Sorden on Sept. 16, 1943, in Spokane, Wash. She was a member of Eastern Star, Searchlight Club, National TTT Society, many card clubs and the United Presbyterian Church. Surviviors include three sons, Stephen (Bonnie) of Lafayette, Colo., Thomas (Gretchen) of Brainerd, Minn., and William (Angel) of Creston; four grandsons; four granddaughters; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Hubert Essley; sister, Mary Potratz; and one grandson.
