She was preceded in death by her parents.
Laraine was born April 11, 1943, in Shawano, Wis., the daughter of Niles and Norma Gentes Day. She grew up in Prairie du Chien, Wis., and married Del Boardman in 1964 and moved to Cedar Rapids. Laraine stayed home to raise her daughters and entered the work force after both started school. She started at Pratt Educational Media but retired from Rapids Vending after 28 years of service as a cashier at Kirkwood Community College. She loved working with the public and meeting people.
Laraine loved camping with the family and sitting around the campfire whether it was at a campsite or her own backyard. She loved plants and flowers both inside and out. Laraine had many hobbies during her life. She especially loved playing card games with family and friends – any kind, anywhere, anytime! She crocheted, sewed, knit, made barrettes for her granddaughters and dabbled in several other craft areas. She loved baking and canning fruits and vegetables. Her homemade pickles were the best, both the dill and the sweet! Later in life she enjoyed eating out, going to movies and reading. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
Laraine was a great lady all around and she will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her.
