Students at Longfellow Elementary School were sent home Monday when carbon monoxide was detected at the school.
Investigators believe the carbon monoxide may have come from the school's boiler system, though the exact source of the carbon monoxide wasn't known. Representatives of the fire department and MidAmerican Energy were on scene assessing the situation Monday morning.
Students were not allowed to enter the building and were sent home. Parents were being contacted by school staff. In the event that parents were not immediately accessible, students were taken to City High School, where Longfellow staff were waiting to supervise them.
