PALO - A 51-year-old Palo man was hospitalized Sunday with what police say appear to be life-threatening injuries following a golf cart crash.
The Linn County Sheriff's Office said James Yount was driving southeast on Covington Road around 10:30 p.m. Sunday when he attempted to make a left turn onto Vinton Street. Police said it appears Yount fell out of the golf cart onto the roadway.
Linn County Sheriff's deputies, Linn County Rescue 57, Life Guard Air Ambulance, Hiawatha Ambulance and the Palo Fire Department responded to the scene, where a 1986 Yamaha golf cart was found in the northwest ditch.
Yount was transported to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics by Life Guard Air Ambulance service. He was the only occupant of the vehicle.
The incident remains under investigation by the Linn County Sheriff's Office and the Iowa State Patrol.
