Debra Kay Henderson, 45, of Cedar Rapids, died at home Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2017. Services: 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 28, at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, Cedar Rapids. Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 27, at the Legacy Center at Murdoch-Linwood, Cedar Rapids. Additional visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until service time at the church. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Debra was born April 25, 1972, in Cedar Falls, Iowa. She was the daughter of David and Joann (Eyler) Young. Debra completed her nursing training at Kirkwood Community College. Debra married Artie Henderson in 1997, and they later divorced. She was an LPN and later an RN in Michigan and at St. Luke's. Debra loved her children deeply. She enjoyed crafting, watching movies and her favorite television shows. Debra also was an animal lover and she gave a lot of time to her beloved cats. She was a giving soul, so nursing came naturally to her. She loved the care and attention she could bring to her patients. Debra will be missed by all who knew her.
Debra is survived by her parents, David and Joann Young of Cedar Rapids; children, Deontae Henderson of Las Vegas, Nev., and A.J. Henderson of Iowa City, Iowa; brother, Paul (Carolyn Dever) Young of Hanover, N.H., and their son, Noah; and brother, Timothy Young of Tokyo, Japan, and his children, Jennifer, Christina, William and Julia.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents.
