Harold Eugene Burkhart, 82, of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, May 1, 2018, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy surrounded by family. Services: 1 p.m. Friday at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories by Cedar Memorial. A visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia Ann (Moline) Burkhart; his son, Douglas (Lori) Burkhart of Cedar Rapids; son-in-law, Ted J. Tannehill; and brothers, Wayne Burkhart and Jim (Dayle) Burkhart. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Joshua, Caleb, Joab, Ryan and Candace; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three daughters, Kathy, Deb and Kim; and grandson, Chris.
Harold was born June 14, 1935, in Ferris, Ill., the son of Lyle and Helen (Roberts) Burkhart. He married Patricia Ann Moline on Oct. 22, 1955, in Fort Madison. Harold worked at Wilson's Food and then retired from Fowler's Electric. Harold's dedication to his four children included working two jobs when necessary. He was full of love for his family and friends. He helped others. He loved to dance with his bride of 62 years. In retirement, he and Pat went to breakfast with friends daily and weekly had dinner with their Chappy's friends. Harold, known by many as Eugene, will be missed. His example of love and friendship will leave a lasting impact.
