David C. Wheatley, 71, Cedar Rapids, passed away Nov. 22, 2018, after a courageous battle with cancer.
David was born Feb. 2, 1947, in Corning, Iowa, to Charles and Louise Wheatley. He graduated from Rockwell City High School and Iowa State University. David was in the ROTC program at ISU and later served as a naval officer during the Vietnam War. Dave and Joyce Ross were married on Oct. 16, 1976, in Cedar Rapids. Dave was an engineer and worked for FMC, Goss and Clipper before retiring in 2016. Dave was active in the Cedar Valley Street Rods Association for more than 40 years.
Dave was preceded in death by his parents.
He leaves behind his wife, Joyce; a brother, Don; sister, Nancy; and other family and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
