An Iowa Army National Guard soldier has been wounded during a combat mission in Afghanistan.
The guard on Tuesday says 19-year-old Pvt. Alexander Meyer, of Ainsworth, was wounded by small arms fire on May 15. The guard says he has been evacuated to a hospital in Germany and will eventually be transferred to a hospital in the U.S.
The guard says there is no condition report on Meyer, but his wounds are not considered life-threatening.
Meyer is a member of Waterloo's Company A, 1st Battalion, 133rd Infantry with 2nd Brigade Combat Team of the 34th Infantry Division.
