Robert L. Inman, 74, of Cedar Rapids, formerly of Monmouth. Ill., died at 4:38 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 12, 2014, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City.
He was born Jan. 14, 1939, in Macomb, Ill., the son of William Henderson and Lola (Bader) Inman. He was raised and educated in Monmouth. Robert served in the U.S. Navy from 1957 to 1961.
Robert married Ruby Taylor in Monmouth, on Sept. 23, 1961. She preceded him in death on Dec. 27, 2008.
He was a federal meat inspector working in various packing plants. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, hunting, crossword puzzle, Western movies and wrestling.
Those left to cherish his memory are three sons, Lee (Roxann) Inman of Marion, Bill (Deneil) Inman of Monmouth, and Robert Inman of Cedar Rapids; 16 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Donald Inman of Monmouth, and Larry (Carol) Inman of Vancouver, Wash.; one sister, Audrey (Earl) Hull of Monmouth; along with nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one great-granddaughter, one great-grandson, three brothers and one sister.
Funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 18, at Hoover-Hall Memorial Chapel, Monmouth. Burial will be in Monmouth Cemetery. Friends may call Friday at Hoover-Hall Memorial Chapel, Monmouth, where his family will be present from 5 to 7 p.m.
