Genevieve Ann "Gen" Hall, 93, of Cedar Rapids, died Sunday, April 24, 2016, at St. Luke's Hospital. Memorial services at 1 p.m. Thursday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories where friends may call after noon Thursday. Inurnment at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include two daughters, Judy (Earl) Sigwarth of Toddville and Sheri Yancey of Cedar Rapids; two sisters, Alberta Fabela of California and Dorothy Erland of Missouri; four grandchildren, Angela (Daren) Campbell of North Carolina, Aaron (Amber) Anderson of Wisconsin, Trent (fiancee Kelly Roseberry) of Center Point and Derek Yancey of Cedar Rapids; and five great-grandchildren, Andrew and Chloe Campbell, Cameron Sigwarth, A.J. Anderson and Peytonn Sauser.
Gen was preceded in death by her husband, Don (December 2005); a daughter, Patricia Anderson (June 2011); a grandson, Travis Sigwarth (July 2006); three brothers, Lester, Melvin and Ronald Fritz; and two sisters, Berniece Duello and Viola Smith.
Gen was born Nov. 1, 1922, in Norway, Iowa, the daughter of Albert and Anna (Ockenfels) Fritz. She married Donald W. Hall on April 14, 1945, in Washington, D.C.
Gen was a telephone operator in Fairfax for 20 years. She later worked at Klinger Paint Factory for several years and retired from J.C. Penney. She was an avid bowler for 34 years and was still bowling until March of this year. Gen enjoyed gardening, baking, going to the casino and especially the time spent with her beloved family and many friends. Her memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved her.
