Youmans, Dora O.
Dora O. Youmans, 96, of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2010, at Mercy Medical Center. Services: 10 a.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church by the Rev. Jonathan Offt. Interment: 11 a.m. Monday at St. John's Cemetery, Sumner, Iowa. A visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel, Cedar Rapids.
Dora is survived by her daughter, Janice Basemann of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Renee Camblin, Michael and Nicole Robertson and Robert Basemann; and great-grandchildren, Phillip Robertson and Mykala Mazzocco; and great-great-granddaughter, Annabelle Robertson.
Also surviving are her two cats and her canary.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, George; three sisters; and three brothers.
Dora was born Nov. 4, 1914, in Maynard, to Fred and Clara Hoeger. She married George Youmans there on April 6, 1941. Dora loved to garden, follow the Hawks, watch CMT and play Rummikscube. She was very hard to beat. She had a solid belief in her Lord and wanted others to believe and be baptized. She always worried about others. Dora was known for her Christmas fudge and sugar cookies.
