Klaas, Darlene M. 'Twig'
Darlene M. “Twig” Klaas, 64, of 4501 Armar Dr. SE, died Friday, May 6, 2011, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha after a courageous battle with cancer. Friends may visit with the family on Thursday from 3 to 7 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at a later date at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery in Cuba City, Wis.
Survivors include six sisters, Gladys Klaas and Mary White, both of Cedar Rapids, Nancy (Bud) Loeffelholz of Platteville, Wis., Grace Brummer, Merrill (Jim) Banfield and Tracy (Dan) Mootz, all of Cuba City, Wis.; two brothers, Frank (Mary) Klaas of Holmen, Wis., and Richard (Bev) Klaas of Cuba City, Wis.; a sister-in-law, Joan Klaas of Cuba City, Wis.; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Marlene; a brother, John; and a brother-in-law, Jim White.
Twig was born March 10, 1947, in Cuba City, Wis., the daughter of Edward and Viola (Gubbels) Klaas. She worked at Rockwell-Collins and retired from there after more than 34 years of service.
Darlene volunteered for the American Cancer Society. She enjoyed music and the time she spent with her beloved family and many friends.
Memorial donations may be given to the American Cancer Society or the University of Iowa Children's Hospital for kids with cancer.
