Osmundson, Kathleen Marie (Bemiss)
Kathleen Marie (Bemiss) Osmundson, 72, of Marion, died Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2011, at Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha. Funeral services: 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 8, at Bethel Presbyterian Church in West Union by the Rev. Galen Smith. Burial: West Union Cemetery, West Union. Family will greet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion and one hour before services Tuesday at the church.
Survivors include her husband of 51 years, Norman Osmundson; brother-in-law, Ray Beltramea; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Arlyce Beltramea.
Kathy was born Nov. 5, 1938, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of George and Pearl (Svebakken) Bemiss. She attended elementary school in Cedar Rapids and West Union, graduating from West Union High School in 1956. She received her teaching certificate from Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls. On Sept. 6, 1959, Kathy was united in marriage to Norman Osmundson in West Union. Kathy was employed by John Hancock Insurance in Cedar Rapids for 31 years.
She and Norman enjoyed traveling together, treasuring the memories of their multiple trips to the western states and the many local bus trips. She enjoyed attending weddings, baptisms, graduations, anniversaries, and reunions of family and friends. Kathy was an avid Cubs baseball fan. Some of the nieces and nephews thought it was cool to have Aunt Kathy to discuss baseball with.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Good Samaritan Society, 201 Hall St., West Union, IA 52175 in Kathy's memory.
