The bride and groom wore camo Saturday as a symbol of their togetherness both in life and in the tree stand.
Like many bow hunters, Marvin Hunter, 61, and Kim Silver, 42, both of Martelle, take their favorite sport seriously.
'We joked about getting married in a tree stand, and it evolved into this,' said Hunter, referring to the 3 p.m. ceremony at the Anamosa Bowhunters Archery Club in which the wedding party dressed in camouflage attire.
The bride looked lovely, if a little hard to see against the wooded backdrop, in her silk Mossy Oak dress ordered off the Internet from a firm in Alexandria, La. The groom, in camo pants and shirt, likewise blended well with the setting.
Their vows and the ceremony were for the most part traditional, though they were conducted atop the club's outdoor shooting platform and punctuated at times by Hunter and Silver firing arrows into three-dimensional targets.
'We do so much hunting together. This just seemed like the right thing to do,' said Silver, who introduced Hunter to the sport seven years ago. Hunter said he and Silver are seldom apart. 'We do everything together.
We even grocery shop together,' he said.
About 50 friends and relatives attended the informal ceremony and reception at the club about two miles northwest of Anamosa.
