Letter: We need leaders who support middle class

The American worker is the backbone of our economy and the middle class.
When our leaders don't support and uplift the middle class we all falter. We should take a hard look at the choices our representative is making - do his votes grow the middle class and build an economy that doesn't leave them behind?
Last year, Rod Blum called for a recession in Washington, D.C. Apparently, he did not understand the cranes he objected to were part of private development projects that created good-paying, middle-class jobs. It's disconcerting to have a representative wish unemployment on a city. With votes to ship jobs overseas, take bargaining rights away from hardworking Iowans, and to support contractors who have violated Fair Labor Standards, I think it is clear Blum doesn't have the best interests of the middle class in mind.
