Joe Tallman, 51, of Cedar Rapids, died Saturday, July 18, 2015, at Northbrook Care Center following a courageous battle with cancer. Celebration of Life will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, July 26, at Bruce Taekwondo Academy, 139 Marion Blvd., Indian Creek Mall, Marion.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Ruth Ann Charlotte Tallman.
Joe was born April 23, 1964, in Cortland, N.Y., the son of Richard and Ruth (Siefers) Tallman. He graduated from Lisbon High School in 1982 and entered the Army, where he served from 1982 to 1986. Joe worked for Stewart Performance Engineering for 12 years and most recently for Midwest Metal for two years. He was a proud member of Bruce Taekwondo Academy where he received his first degree black belt, was involved in Cub Scouts and was an assistant leader for the Boy Scouts.
Joe loved his family more than anything. His wife, Tina, with whom he had spent the past 26 years, as well as his children. Spending time with them was the most important thing to him. Joe also enjoyed spending time at the dojang with his taekwondo family, as well as working on cars, cooking and building model cars.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established for his family.
The family would like to give a special thank you to Bruce Taekwondo Academy for all their support during Joe's illness and passing, especially David and Valerie Bruce and Kirk Dighton.
