Roll-over crash slows traffic on northbound Interstate 380

The Johnson County Sheriff's department responded to a roll-over accident on the northbound lane of Interstate 380 between North Liberty and Swisher at mile-marker 7 Monday afternoon.

According to an Iowa State Patrol accident report,  Macie Mata, 19, of Kewanee, IL, lost control of her vehicle after her left rear tire blew.

Mata entered the median and rolled her Ford Explorer multiple times before it came to a rest on its wheels.

Mata was injured and was taken to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics by Johnson County ambulance for treatment.

Mata was wearing her seat-belt and officers said it saved her life.

A tow truck carrying a rust colored SUV was seen leaving the accident sight. Traffic was backed up south of the North Liberty exit on I-380 moving at a stop and go pace, but is now moving again swiftly.
