Broadway at the Paramount: ‘The Sound of Music’ Wednesday, Feb. 21

The hills are alive in this new touring production of Rodgers & Hammerstein's 'The Sound of Music.” The musical story of Maria and the von Trapp Family, set against the rise of the Nazi regime, is coming to Cedar Rapids as part of the Broadway at the Paramount series. Its Tony-, Grammy- and Academy Award-winning score includes such favorite tunes as 'My Favorite Things,” 'Do-Re-Mi,” 'Climb Ev'ry Mountain,” 'Edelweiss” and the iconic title song. More than 44 million people tuned into a live telecast on NBC in December 2013, and 2015 marked the 50th anniversary of the film version, which continues to be the most successful movie musical in history.
