YUN HUI GOLDSMITH
Colfax
Yun Hui Goldsmith passed away at home on Saturday, Oct. 29, 2016, in Colfax, Iowa. Memorial services will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 3, at Coburn Funeral Home in Colfax. Memorials may be directed to the family and condolences may be left for the family at www.coburnfuneralhomes.com.
She was born Aug. 4, 1945, in Seoul, Korea, one of five children. She worked as a seamstress at Inchon Army Base, where she met Steven Goldsmith. In October 1968, they married and immigrated to the U.S. with their first child, Peggy Sue. They settled in Martell, where Yun Hui and Steve worked on the family farm and later on assembly lines. In 1978 came daughter Cynthia and in 1981 her son Adam.
Yun Hui yearned to go back to her home country, but realized her children were better off in America. She happily sacrificed that happiness for them. She enjoyed traveling back to her native country to visit and enjoyed the company of family and friends, some of whom she met at the Colfax Senior Center.
She is survived by Steven, her husband of 48 years; daughter, Peggy Sue Goldsmith-Gastaldo, husband John Gastaldo of San Diego; her daughter, Cynthia Brcka and husband Rob Brcka of Waukee, and their children Britney and Trenton; and her son, Adam Goldsmith of Grimes.
