Huffman, Edward Gail
Edward Gail Huffman, 81, died peacefully at his home in Horseshoe Bend, Ark., on Saturday, Nov. 19, 2011.
Edward was born May 19, 1930, in Iowa City, the son of Leroy and Agnes (Cizek) Huffman. Following graduation from City High School, Edward joined the National Guard, where he served from 1947 to 1949. He then joined the U.S. Army and served from 1951 to 1952 in Germany during the Korean War.
Edward married Louise Villhauer on June 21, 1952, in Iowa City. Louise died in May 1989. He then married Audrey Cannady in September 1990. They resided in North Liberty before they moved to Mesa, Ariz., in 1993 and finally moved to Horseshoe Bend, Ark., in 2005.
Edward was the foreman for Lyle Miller Construction Co. for 35 years, building homes in the Iowa City area before retiring. Edward was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
He loved to play jokes on people and make people laugh. He will forever be remembered for the twinkle in his eye and his infectious grin.
Edward is survived by his wife, Audrey; his children, Diane (Melvin) Rinehart, Nancy Harper, Edward (Julia) Huffman, Jackie Huffman and Letha (Bruce) Voight, all of North Liberty, Norma (John) Waters of Cedar Rapids and Robert (Tracey) Huffman of Breinigsville, Pa.; grandchildren, Jake and Sam Harper, Lizzie and Abby Huffman, Jackson, Christopher, Nicole and Kelly Waters, Quinnton and Daulton Huffman; and his loyal and beloved dog, Molly.
He is also survived by Audrey's children, Allison (Bob) Clark, Dawne (Al) Cowgill and Larry Wood II; along with 11 stepgrandchildren and four stepgreat-grandchildren.
Edward was preceded in death by his wife, Louise; daughter, LeAnn Huffman; his parents; and two brothers, Milo and Leo Huffman.
Per Edward's request there will be no funeral service. A celebration of life is being planned for a later date.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Legacy Hospice for the loving and exceptional care and comfort shown to Edward, especially to Jean-Ann, Angie, Barb, Debra and Heather. You were a blessing in our time of need.
