Northern Iowa beats Portland State in FCS playoffs

PORTLAND, Ore. - Quarterback Aaron Bailey rushed for 200 yards, including touchdown runs of 61 and 69 yards, and Northern Iowa beat Portland State 29-17 Saturday night to advance to the FCS quarterfinals.
Running back Tyvis Smith accounted for 207 yards and two touchdowns in the road victory.
UNI will visit Missouri Valley Football Conference foe North Dakota State at 11 a.m. Saturday. The game will be televised on ESPN.
Four-time defending national champion and No. 3 seed NDSU beat Montana 37-6 in the second round.
The Bison won the Oct. 10 regular-season meeting with UNI in Fargo, 31-28.
