Iowa City police investigate armed robbery at Culver’s

Iowa City Police are investigating an armed robbery of a restaurant Saturday morning.
Police received a report at 7:15 a.m. from a Culver's restaurant at 710 Highway 1 W, in Iowa City, according to a news release.
An uninjured victim at the scene told police the suspect was a black male wearing a black hoodie and black shorts.
The victim told police he was taking trash out from the restaurant when the suspect, armed with a handgun, approached and demanded money.
The victim said he was forced at gunpoint into the restaurant, according to police, but locked himself inside the office. The suspect fled with an undisclosed amount of money, police said the witness told them.
The Johnson County Sheriff's Office assisted in attempting to find the suspect, police said.
