Dubuque woman jailed after attacking officer

A Dubuque woman is in jail after she attacked a police officer in a hospital exam room.

Early Tuesday morning, police arrested 23-year-old Erica Wyles for public intoxication.

While in jail, she complained of severe stomach pain, so officers took her to Finley Hospital.

Police say that's where Wyles attacked officer Ann Kennedy.

Wyles hit Kennedy with an I.V. pole, choked her and slammed her head against the wall.

Paramedics were able to get Wyles off Kennedy, who was not seriously injured in the attack.
