CEDAR RAPIDS - Cedar Rapids police have arrested a suspect in an armed robbery they say happened Tuesday in the parking lot of the Target store at 3400 Edgewood Rd. SW.
According to police, a 19-year old man was sitting in his pickup truck in the parking lot around noon when he was approached by a man wearing a black parka. The suspect allegedly approached the vehicle, brandished what appeared to be a handgun, and told the man in the truck that he needed to go to an ATM and withdraw cash, police said in a news release.
The suspect followed the man into Target and the man withdrew cash from an ATM inside the store.
Based on the description of the suspect and review of the store's security footage, police were able to locate Quincy T. Franklin, 31, at Aspen Inn, 3233 Southridge Dr. SW, shortly after 11 a.m. Wednesday, authorities said.
Franklin faces a charge of first-degree robbery.
