Kevin J. Garin, 55, of Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, July 10, 2014, at St. Luke's Hospital following a
short illness. Services: 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Jude Catholic Church, by the Rev. Mark Reasoner. Burial: St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 3 to 7 p.m. Monday at Teahen Funeral Home and after 9 a.m. Tuesday at the church.
Kevin is survived by his parents, Gerald and Kathleen; daughter, Jamie of Tiffin; four siblings, Roger (LaDonna) of Cedar Rapids, Vicki (Ray) Atkins of Cedar Rapids, Alan (Cindy Kelly) of Harpers Ferry and Rita (Jeff) White of Cedar Rapids; many nieces and nephews; and his special friend, Dee-Dee.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Gary.
Kevin Joseph was born Oct. 25, 1958, the son of Gerald and Kathleen (Weber) Garin. He was very active in sports during grade school at St. Jude and LaSalle High School, which he graduated from in 1977. Kevin was a union carpenter with Local 308. He married Anita Luster on Oct. 27, 1990. They later divorced.
Kevin had a great sense of humor and was a big man with a big heart. He loved hunting, fishing and gardening. He also loved watching baseball, football and basketball. He was a Minnesota Vikings and Iowa Hawkeyes fan.
