Meyer, Steven 'Frog' Russell
Steven “Frog” Russell Meyer, 56, of Ely, died Saturday, Nov. 13, 2010. Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 19, at Brosh Chapel in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling St. SW. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Brosh Chapel. Inurnment will be at a later date in Linwood Cemetery in Boone.
Steven was born April 20, 1954, in Jefferson, the son of Russell Luverne and June Elizabeth (Parks) Meyer. He graduated from Jefferson Community High School in 1972. Steven married Michele Gross on April 27, 1974 in Jefferson. He worked for Alliant Energy for over 36 years in the Jefferson, Perry and Cedar Rapids Prairie Creek Power Plants. He was a baseball coach and enjoyed attending his children's sporting events. He enjoyed NASCAR, building cars and being involved in all aspects of racing. Frog was a pit crew member for Bob and Joey Gase Racing Teams. He enjoyed fishing and time spent at Lake Macbride. Steve's most cherished moments were those spent with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Steven is survived by his wife, Michele; a son, Damon Meyer (Justine Wignall) of Cedar Rapids; a daughter, Kara (Marc) Leonard of Amana; three grandchildren, Laurdyn Meyer, Avery Leonard and Braylon Meyer; two sisters, Carol (Sam) Fengel of Scranton, and Pat (Dave) Luther of Jefferson; three brothers Michael (Joanne) Meyer of Fort Dodge, Brian Meyer of Ely, and Robert (Mary) Meyer of Callender; as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Steven was preceded in death by his parents.
