KEARNEY, Neb. - The Cedar Rapids RoughRiders traveled a lot of miles the past couple of days, but got four standings points out of it, and that's all that matters.
Cal Burke had the lone goal in a shootout, and the Riders brushed past Tri-City, 2-1, Friday night at Viaero Center.
Cedar Rapids (5-0) traveled 500 miles Wednesday to Fargo, N.D., and beat the Fargo Force, 4-1, Thursday night. They then went 540 miles from Fargo to Kearney for Friday night's game.
Tri-City got a second-period goal from Carson Meyer for a 1-0 lead. The RoughRiders tied it in the third on a goal from Luke Morgan with 9:56 left in regulation.
Ben Foley and Pavel Tkachkov had the assists.
Goaltender Ryan Larkin stopped all three Storm shooters in the shootout. The Riders play next Friday night at Des Moines and host Dubuque the following night.
