Skywalk Group was among those recognized as the fastest-growing companies in the Cedar Rapids – Iowa City Corridor in an annual listing coordinated by the Corridor Business Journal.
Placement on the list is determined by revenue growth over the preceding three-year period. Dollar and percentage growth are among the metrics used to determine specific rank. In its debut year among the honorees, Skywalk Group emerges in third place.
The announcement was made Tuesday, May 24, at a ceremony acknowledging the award winners. Skywalk Group owners Tami Young, Elizabeth Trcka, Lydia Brown and Tim Sieck were present to receive the award.
A human resources consulting and development company, Skywalk Group formed in 2008 when the four professionals partnered to create a specialized firm for the purpose of counseling start-ups and large corporations.
Asked to comment on the CBJ award, Skywalk Group partner Tim Sieck remarked, “We believe this award helps solidify Skywalk Group as the strategic HR partner in the corridor area and assists us in recruiting exceptional talent to our team.”
In four years since inception, Skywalk Group has grown to 21 employees from eight. In 2010, the company earned its Targeted Small Business certification for meeting criteria established by the state of Iowa as a woman-owned business.
The company's client base grew 58% from 2009 to 2010. It enjoyed 76% revenue growth for the same period, preceded by 96.5% revenue growth 2008 to 2009.
