PHOTOS ADDED: Three teens face a host of charges after police say they invaded an Iowa City apartment with weapons Monday night, injuring one of the apartment's residents.
Police were called to the apartment in the 2200 block of Muscatine Avenue, at 10:16 p.m. Monday for a reported home invasion. The three victims told officers that three masked males, one armed with a large stick and another with a steak knife, entered the apartment and demanded money. The victims struggled with the suspects, and one of the victims was cut on the hand, causing a laceration that required 20 stitches at a local hospital. One of the suspects was also stabbed in the leg, police said. The suspects then fled on foot.
Loel Richard Howieson II, 19, of 340 Palomino Court; Lucas James Pumfrey, 16, of 2314 Lakeside Dr.; and Artis Lee Mason III, 17, of 1303 DeForest Ave., were all arrested after an investigation. All three are charged with first-degree robbery, first-degree burglary, going armed with intent and assault while participating in a felony.
The incident remains under investigation, and more charges are pending, police said.
