DARCY AUSTIN

Darcy A. Austin, 56, of Anamosa, died Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2014, at her home, surrounded by her loving family, following a year-long battle with cancer. A Celebration of Life Open House will be Tuesday, Oct. 28, from 2:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Lawrence Community Center in Anamosa. Casual dress is requested. Iowa Cremation is assisting the family.
Darcy Ann Schneiter was born March 23, 1958, the daughter of George and Shirley (Lubben) Schneiter. Darcy graduated from Monticello High School in 1976 and attended Kirkwood Community College for one year. She was united in marriage to Keith Austin on Sept. 10, 1977, at the Presbyterian Church in Monticello. They have lived in Anamosa their entire married life.
Darcy was employed at Iowa Prison Industries for 34 years and retired in 2013.
She thoroughly enjoyed her family, children and many, many friends. Darcy was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Anamosa and the TTT Society. Darcy thoroughly enjoyed visits with her "bridge club" ladies.
She is survived by her loving and caring husband, Keith, of 37 years; daughters, Jami (David) Woods of Keota and Aleen "Ali" (Brian) Wolken of Monticello; parents, George and Shirley Schneiter of Monticello; sisters, Deb (Dan) Schoon, Susan Schneiter and Sara (Marty) Lindauer, all of Monticello; mother-in-law, Rose Marie Austin of Anamosa; sister-in-law, Bonnie (Lyle) Cook of Davenport; and several nieces and nephews.
Darcy was preceded in death by her grandparents, father-in-law, Leonard Austin, and nephew, Joseph Lindauer.
Special thanks to Hall-Perrine Cancer Center, PCI Oncology and Infusion Center staff and Above and Beyond Hospice Care (Monticello), especially Dixie Beckman, Laura Shover and Sue Schemmel. Also a very special thank-you to St. Paul's Lutheran Church (Anamosa) ladies for all the dinners provided to the family over the past year.
