James R. "Jim" Taylor, 71, of Cedar Rapids, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his family on Oct. 4, 2015, after a long illness.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Merwen and Iris Taylor of Marion.
He is survived by his wife, Joan; two children, Jason (Jolene) Taylor of Wichita, Kan., and Jamie (Joe) Spreitzer of Cedar Rapids; six grandchildren, John, Matthew, Audrey, Sarah, Amelia and Harry; his brother, Tom; his sister, Jeanie; and his dog, Buddy.
A private, graveside funeral service for the family is planned for a later date. He will be laid to rest at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
The family would like to thank the staff at both St. Luke's Hospital and the Hall-Perrine Cancer Center, and especially St. Luke's Hospice.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, don-ations may be made to Camp Courageous of Iowa (www.camp courageous.org).
