Edmond Griffin Jr. died
at the age of 77 on March 3, 2018, in his home he shared with his daughter in Cedar Rapids. His graveside service will be held in Jackson, Miss. A time will be announced in April 2018.
Edmond Griffin Jr. was born in Natchez, Miss., on Sept. 4, 1940, to Edmond Griffin Sr. and Argelia White. He retired after 40 years from Farm Services of the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Edmond Griffin Jr. had a big heart and was loved by many friends, family and co-workers. He loved to perform many hands-on activities, mainly working on automobiles. He was known as the local neighborhood "MacGyver," helping those the best way he could.
His children/grandchildren paid a tribute to their father/grandfather: Daddy "Papa" your life was our true blessing, your memories we will forever treasure, we will always love you beyond what words could define, we will miss you always. You accepted Christ before you took your last breath, so rest daddy/papa in Jesus' arms until we see you again.
He is survived by his children, Stephanie Yvette Griffin and Edmond Griffin III; his grandchildren, William Griffin, Shekinah Brooks, Faith Brooks and Naomi Griffin; and siblings, Willie Griffin (Joyce), Johnny Griffin (deceased) (Helen), Jerry Griffin (deceased), Dora Jones, Marguerite Stevens (Claude) and Gloria Laury (deceased). He also had many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
