Gary Dale McKinley, 70, died Friday, Sept. 9, 2016, at Virginia Gay Hospital.
There will be a celebration of life at Oak Grove Church, Shellsburg, from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 13.
Gary was born Oct. 31, 1946, in Vinton, the son of Tracy and Dorothy McKinley. He served his country in the Naval Reserves. Gary worked at Cherry Burrell/International Paper for 40 years. He enjoyed karaoke and bowled in a Cedar Rapids league until his health declined. On June 6, 2009, he married Connie Lerch.
He is survived by his wife, Connie, and family; sons, Thad (Ronica) and Aaron McKinley; two grandchildren, Tavish and Keeho McKinley; three brothers, Tracy, Tim and Tom McKinley; and three sisters, Deana (Richard) Larson, Mary (Jeff) Meyer and Sheila McKinley.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
