She was preceded in death by her husband, Garrah, and a brother, Bob.
Carole was born Oct. 13, 1934, in Chicago, the daughter of William and Josephine Hacker Scherwat. She graduated from the University of Illinois in 1956 and was a substitute teacher in the Cedar Rapids school system, and later worked at Rockwell Collins. On Feb. 23, 1957, she was united in marriage to Lenos Garrah Muret in Chicago. He passed away in 2009.
Carole was a faithful member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church and a very active member of the local Tri Delta Sorority Alumni Chapter.
She and her husband, Garrah, traveled domestically and interna-tionally. She volunteered and was a former member of St. Luke's Auxiliary, Cedar Rapids Community Theatre, and enjoyed dance, the fine arts and the symphony, as well as being an accomplished pianist.
An avid reader and writer, she kept her kids up to date through letters and news clips well before the Internet took hold. Her son, Don, especially appreciated the sports stories she clipped from The Gazette about his beloved Cubs and the Hawkeyes. Her youngest son, Bob, a guitar player, would receive clips in the mail about some of his favorite rock groups.
Carole was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend whose memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved her.
Memorial donations may be given to the Alzheimer's Association in Carole's name.
