Leroy F. "John" Hoyt, 83, of Marion, died peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Tuesday,
June 25, 2014. Funeral Mass: 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 30, at All Saints Cath-olic Church, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. John R. Flaherty. Visitation will be one hour before Mass at the church. Burial: Campbell Cemetery, Cedar Rapids, with military honors. Arrangements are by Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his wife, Carol; daughters, Kathy (Allen) Trueblood and Johnna Meadows; sons, Michael (Jan) Hoyt, Patrick (Melinda) Hoyt, Kenneth (Laurie) Hoyt and Bong Hoyt; brother, Gary Hoyt; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and many other extended family members.
John was born April 11, 1931, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Llewellyn and Dorothy (Stoneking) Hoyt. He served in the U.S. Navy. On June 21, 1986, he married Carol Wirtz in Marion. John worked for H & W Motor Express, retiring after 18 years.
He was a member of All Saints Catholic Church and a past member of the Springville Masonic Lodge and El Kahir Shrine Temple.
He was preceded in death by his parents, stepmother, a sister, a brother-in-law and two sisters-in-law.
Memorials are suggested to Hospice of Mercy or All Saints Catholic Church.
