Bettendorf star to walk on at Iowa
IOWA CITY - Bettendorf all-state basketball player Nicholas Baer will join the Iowa men's basketball team next fall as a preferred walk-on, he announced on Twitter this morning.
Baer, a 6-foot-7 forward, averaged 15.3 points and hit 63.2 percent from the floor for the Bulldogs. Baer also made 73.4 percent of his free throws. Bettendord was the top-seeded Class 4A team but was ousted in the state semifinals by eventual state champion Iowa City West. Bettendorf was the Class 4A state runner-up in 2013.
Baer is the son of former KGAN sportscaster John Baer.
