Eileen Marjorie Bevins, 89, died Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2015, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 10, at Immaculate Conception Catholic
Church in Van Horne, with Father Craig Steimel as celebrant. Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery near Keystone. Visitation will be at Phillips Funeral Home in Keystone from 4 to 7 p.m Friday.
A memorial fund has been established for the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy.
Eileen was born May 21, 1926, near Solon to Joe and Ann (Zenisek) Dvorsky, and graduated from Solon High School in 1943. On June 26, 1946, she was united in marriage to Thomas F. Bevins in Cedar Rapids. The couple farmed in the Keystone and Van Horne area until 1984, when they moved to Van Horne. He preceded her in death in 1991.
She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Van Horne. She also was a member of Future Green, Van Horne library board, Red Hat Society and Van Horne Senior Citizens.
Eileen is survived by her children, Joanne (Pete) Peterson of Waverly, Larry (Deb) Bevins of Pocahontas, Janice Knight of Bartonville, Ill., Linda (Gary) Tecklenburg of Como, Colo., Mary Bevins of Walsenburg, Colo., and Tom (Avis) Bevins of Windsor, Colo.; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and her sister, Betty (Joe) Elsner of Cedar Rapids.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Ron Knight; and two sisters, Marcella Huff and Dolores Russell.
