Fossum, Andy
Andy Fossum, 76, died Monday, Nov. 29, 2010, at his rural residence following an extended illness. A Celebration of Life will begin at 5 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 2, at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel in Keystone, with Mercy Hospice Chaplin Kim Vogel officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday. Services also will be held at the Aaker Funeral Home in Lakota, N.D., Dec. 9 with burial at Sobak Cemetery, near Lawton, N.D.
A memorial fund has been established.
Andrew Nels Fossum, known to family and friends as “Andy” was born Sept. 19, 1934, at Lawton, N.D., to Nels A. and Rose (Trhlin) Fossum. Andy served his nation in the U.S. Army and was a member of the American Legion. He married Mary Lou Pesek on August 15, 1963, at Devils Lake, N.D. She preceded him in death.
Andy operated Road Construction Equipment before his retirement. Five years ago, Andy and brother, Mike traveled to Tama County and they built their retirement home near Clutier.
He is survived by his children, Bret (Beth) Fossum of Texas, Greg (Amy) Fossum of Minnesota, and Heidi Fossum of North Dakota; four grandchildren; his brothers, Mike Fossum of Clutier, Johnnie (Janice) Fossum of Rolette, N.D., and Dick (Linda) Fossum of Helena, Mont; his sister, Doris (Larry) Charon of Cooperstown, N.D.; his sister-in-law, Diane Fossum of Grand Forks, N.D.; and several loving nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his sister, Edna; and his brother, Nels.
